LAZY DAY TRAILERS: ASSAULT HEROES 2

I’ve made no secret in the past that Assault Heroes was one of my favorite "original content" titles to hit the Xbox Live Arcade. The game managed to capture that old school top-down arcade shooter feeling almost perfectly, and very much reminded me of a game I once thought of creating as a teenager. It’s that same fondness that brought a smile to my face in the early hours of this morning when I discovered that a sequel to the game will be hitting the Live Arcade sometime this spring.

Assault Heroes 2 looks to take all the fun of the original and mix in new elements such as upgraded weapons with the ability to commandeer enemy vehicles. Don’t take my word for it though, check out the trailer below courtesy of GameTrailers.com.

For more information on Assault Heroes 2, check out IGN’s exclusive first look at the title as linked below. Assault Heroes 2 is slated for release on the Xbox 360 via the Xbox Live Arcade in Spring 2008. No other platforms have been announced at present.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: GEARS OF WAR 2 GDC 2008 DEBUT TRAILER

You read that right, true believers, it’s official – Gears of War 2 is in production and slated for a November 2008 release exclusively on the Xbox 360. If you recall, this site was pretty much engulfed in Emergence Day fever back in 2006, and I fully expect to once again catch the bug for this next installment. I’d ramble on more and more about this right now, as well as all the other juicy announcements coming out of the 2008 Game Developer’s Conference, but I’m still not really feeling 100% and just want to crawl into bed.

Since this is a Lazy Day Trailers post, it wouldn’t be complete without a video courtesy of the fine people at GameTrailers.com – check it out below!

While we’re talking about Gears of War 2, a free Xbox 360 dashboard theme and gamerpicture set (as well as the above video) are currently available in the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Gears of War 2 will be coming exclusively to the Xbox 360 (though you can just about be sure a PC port will eventually follow) in November of 2008. Expect many updates in the months to come.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: GRAND THEFT AUTO IV – THE STEINWAY BEER GARDEN

Hey gang, it’s time for yet another edition of Lazy Day Trailers – today well be looking at Grand Theft Auto IV once again as we’ve got a new "commercial" for the Steinway Beer Garden of Liberty City courtesy of the folks over at GameTrailers.com.

If you’re a fan of the mock radio ads in the previous games, you’ll feel right at home with this one. Before you click though, please be advised that due to language, this is probably best considered Not Safe For Work (NSFW). You have been warned.

Grand Theft Auto IV will be coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on April 29th, 2008.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: STREET FIGHTER IV GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE

Hey gang, it’s time for another edition of Lazy Day Trailers – today we’ve got some gameplay footage from Street Fighter IV. While I know it’s early in the game’s development, there’s just something that feels "wrong" about how the game looks. While I have every confidence that Capcom isn’t going to let the game be anything other than stellar, it’s enough for me to start keeping tabs on the title.

Check it out below courtesy of GameTrailers.com;

No information regarding a release date or platform availability for Street Fighter IV has been made at this time.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: DUKE NUKEM FOREVER

No, it’s not the apocalypse, though that may have indeed been a pig flying past your window yesterday afternoon. 3D Realms has released the first teaser trailer for… Duke Nukem Forever. Yup, after 10+ years in development, we’re finally getting a teaser trailer.

It’s not something to get overly excited about, as there isn’t much to see as far as actual gameplay footage goes, but the way I figure it, any big announcement about the most famous piece of vaporware in gaming deserves a post. Hell, what’s next – might Phantom Entertainment actually ship a Lapboard or two?

Check it out below courtesy of GameTrailers.com;

Duke Nukem Forever is slated to ship … sometime this century?

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: GRAN TURISMO 5 PROLOGUE

Well, it was a slow news day, so you get a video courtesy of the good folks over at GameTrailers.com. Don’t you feel all special now? Admit it, you’re feeling all warm and fuzzy now, aren’t you?

What I’ve got for you today is a look at Sony’s Gran Turismo 5 Prologue – the latest in the company’s venerable racing franchise. What you’re about to watch is some in-game footage of a race through city streets. I’d say it was a thrilling run, but the fact that the driver can’t seem to avoid smashing into things kind of takes away from the whole presentation. Still, this video is about getting to see the level of detail of your surroundings – so maybe I should be spending our time looking around instead of critiquing driving skills.

Anyway, check out the video below – I’m sure you’ll agree that the game is looking good – and the fact that Sony has added an in-car mode has certainly got me excited about this one.

As I’m sure you well know, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: GRAND THEFT AUTO IV

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard anything significant regarding Grand Theft Auto IV from our friends at Rockstar Games, but that all is about to change. Rockstar has released the latest trailer for GTA IV, and based on what I’ve seen, it looks like one of the things Rockstar did following the delay of the game was to scale the character models back quite a bit.

Now I know one of the rumored issues with GTA IV was that it wasn’t running smoothly, but I really didn’t expect the character models to be knocked back as far they apparently have been. There are some moments in there where I’d swear I was looking at a last-generation game. Thankfully, Liberty City still seems to be rendered beautifully – and more importantly, the story seems to be solid… though I certainly hope that the annoying cousin doesn’t play a huge role in the game.

Anyway, enough talk – I know what you’re here for… check out the video courtesy of GameTrailers.com below;

On a final note, is that not the most disturbing looking stripper silhouette you’ve ever seen in your life? *shudders*

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: MASS EFFECT

Now this is what Lazy Day Trailers are all about! I’m not talking about Mass Effect, I’m talking about days where I’ve overslept so badly that I need something I can toss online to entertain you. See? I do really care about you and your entertainment needs!

Today we’ve got an exclusive look at Mass Effect direct from the good folks over at GameTrailers.com. Check it out!

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: STREET FIGHTER IV

As you may have guessed from the title, Capcom has confirmed that Street Fighter IV, the next installment in their classic brawling series is finally in development. While Capcom didn’t divulge what systems the game will appear on or give a firm release date, they did manage to get the first teaser trailer for the game out the door.

Normally, I’d pass on putting up a trailer that doesn’t include any gameplay footage, but because of Street Fighter IV just being confirmed, all the hours of enjoyment the Street Fighter series has brought me, and the rampant speculation that the game’s art style may mimic the stylized look of the teaser, I figured it was at least a bit newsworthy. Okay, it probably didn’t hurt that I fell asleep at my desk (again) and as such still didn’t finish editing my hands-on look at Sony’s The Eye of Judgment. Yeah, I know, I suck.

Let the internet rumor-mongering commence!

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: A VAMPYRE STORY

If you’re a regular reader of this site, then by now you know that I hold a special place in my heart for point-and-click graphic adventure games. Simply put, when done right they allow a level of story telling, humor and puzzle solving that other game types can’t even come close to matching. It’s because of that love that I’m bringing you this early trailer for Autumn Moon Entertainment’s upcoming game A Vampire Story.

In this one, you take the role of reluctant vampire Mona De Lafitte, an aspiring opera star who was kidnapped – and made a vampire – by her obsessed vampiric fan Baron Shrowdy von Kiefer. Mona, along with her companion Froderick the bat, will have to try to escape the Baron’s clutches, come to grips with her unlife and try to fulfill her dreams of becoming a star. I think you’ll agree there’s just tons of potential for hilarity here.

It’s being developed by another group of ex-LucasArts employees and seems to be on target to hit that perfect mix I just mentioned. Once you get past the cheezy voice-over for the below trailer, I think you’ll agree. Check it out.

A Vampyre Story is currently slated for an early 2008 release on Windows PCs.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: NINJA GAIDEN 2

The big news coming out of Microsoft’s pre-show press conference for the Tokyo Game Show was the confirmation that Ninja Gaiden 2 is indeed in the works for the Xbox 360. While we don’t have any gameplay footage to show you yet (though apparently there was a gameplay demonstration by Tomonobu Itagaki) we do have the first teaser trailer for the game ready for your perusal. Check it out.

According to Gamespot, Microsoft will be both financing and publishing Ninja Gaiden 2 with Tecmo, meaning that it’s highly doubtful that the game will appear in any form on another system other than the Xbox 360.

“Currently, Ninja Gaiden 2 is set for a worldwide release on the Xbox 360 sometime in 2008. However, unlike its predecessors, it won’t be ported to other consoles down the line. Instead of being published by Tecmo, holder of the Ninja Gaiden license, the game is being bankrolled and distributed directly by Microsoft Game Studios.” – Gamespot

As stated above, there is no specific release date for the game at this time. Let the drooling begin.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: HEAVENLY SWORD: LEGEND OF THE SWORD – PART FIVE

The fifth and final installment in Sony’s animated Heavenly Sword series has been released and as predicted last week, Nariko’s clan didn’t take too kindly to their heavenly warrior being born a girl. Still, Nariko undergoes her training with the clan to become the warrior of legend. The story has once again rapidly moved forward and leaves us at the scene of what will most likely be a great battle – and possibly the opening of Heavenly Sword.

The word on Heavenly has been pretty mixed so far, but I’m not about to give up hope on this one yet, though I am tempering my expectations quite a bit.

Those of you looking to play catch-up with the series should check out the below videos in their proper order.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: HEAVENLY SWORD: LEGEND OF THE SWORD – PART FOUR

The fourth installment in Sony’s animated Heavenly Sword series has been released and it looks like the story is rapidly catching up to present day. Unless there’s a major plot twist about to happen, we now get to see the birth of Nariko – and some early signs of how her arrival was taken by her clan. Here’s a hint – not good.

Those of you looking to play catch-up with the series should check out the below videos in their proper order. We’ll continue posting each episode as they’re made available, so stay tuned.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: PENNY ARCADE ADVENTURES

The Penny Arcade Expo is winding down today, but one of the things to come out of this year’s show is an updated look at Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness. In addition to the news that the game will be available in early 2008 for Windows, Mac OS-X, Linux and the Xbox 360 via the Xbox Live Arcade, the gang from Hothead Games debuted a new trailer which shows the game off in a more polished, playable looking form.

Perhaps the biggest news is that the player won’t play as either Tycho or Gabe, but rather will play alongside them with custom created characters. The description of the gameplay itself makes it sound like a cross between an action/adventure title and a traditional turn based role playing game. Word is the game maintains the same edge as the webcomic, so expect the ESRB to hand down a M rating when the time comes.

This one looks like it could go either way at this point, but so far the hands-on impressions coming out of PAX are generally positive. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on this one as more information becomes available.

If you haven’t been following along, now is the perfect time to start, as the third installment in the series has been released. LAZY DAY TRAILERS: HEAVENLY SWORD: LEGEND OF THE SWORD – PART ONE

Sony sent out an e-mail to all PlayStation Underground Gamer Advisory Panel (G.A.P.) members advising them that they were being given exclusive early access to a series of animations and behind the scene looks at Ninja Theory’s highly anticipated title Heavenly Sword.

Quite obviously, while I may be a member of the G.A.P, that doesn’t help you much, does it? Thankfully, the folks over at GameTrailers have posted the first of five animated shorts which will serve to introduce gamers to the world of Heavenly Sword. Let’s take a look;

The remaining episodes should be made available over the next few weeks, so we’ll be sure to update the site as each video finds it’s way to the internet. (Don’t worry if you miss one, these videos are only being made exclusive to G.A.P. members for a limited time, so eventually you should be able to find them everywhere.)

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: LEGO INDIANA JONES: THE VIDEO GAME

LucasArts took the opportunity afforded by Comic-Con 2007 to confirm that a Lego version of the Indiana Jones trilogy is indeed in production and slated for release some time next summer. The upcoming game, Lego Indiana Jones: The Video Game, is being developed by Traveller’s Tales, the same company behind the two Lego Star Wars titles, and will cover all three of the Indiana Jones films with the same humorous family-friendly style the Lego series has become known for. Let’s take a look;

Lego Indiana Jones: The Video Game is due to release as a multi-platform title in the summer of 2008.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: RESIDENT EVIL 5

Resident Evil 5 is one of those games that’s been keeping a low profile since it’s initial announcement in 2005. While we’ve been treated to little snippets of information and teaser trailers on an annual basis, we’ve not really been allowed to see just what we can expect from this latest installment of Capcom’s long-running franchise. That has now changed.

Capcom has released a new, extended version of the E3’07 Resident Evil 5 trailer, and it is, in short, a breath-taking ride. We catch up with Chris Redfield 10 years after the Raccoon City incident and find him tracking down information on a supposed outbreak in what appears to be Africa. There seems to be some actual gameplay footage mixed in with the CGI, and from that footage, we can assume that the game will use the third person “over-the-shoulder” view that was pioneered in Resident Evil 4.

Now that I’ve set up the trailer for you, I’ll step back and let you enjoy what I consider the first real look at Resident Evil 5.

Now that you’ve seen the good news, I’m going to give you a bit of the bad. According to RE5’s Wikipedia entry, in an interview with RE5 producer Jun Takeuchi, Weekly Famitsu was informed that the game’s release date has been pushed back into 2009. I’m hoping that’s one story that will turn out to be false, as it’s been too long since we’ve had a game that dealt with the main Resident Evil storyline. (Of course, a delay would give me more time to finally finish Resident Evil 4 and take it off my damned “should be playing” list.)

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: HEAVENLY SWORD DEMO FOOTAGE

To celebrate yesterday’s release of the Heavenly Sword demo, I broke out my digital camera and recorded video of the demo from start to finish. Now, before you watch it, I feel the need to tell you that my digital camera, for want of a better term, sucks. I do apologize for the graininess of the four videos below, but it was this or nothing – and I figured those of you following the game who haven’t bought a PlayStation 3 yet would really like to see what the rest of us are playing.

So, without further delay or introduction, check out the below four videos which will take you through the complete, short-but-oh-so-good, demo of Heavenly Sword.

You can also check out the full sized version of these videos at the YouTube links below. Enjoy.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: MASS EFFECT

Now that I’ve shown you trailers for the top system exclusive first person shooters from E3, we’re going to move on to role playing games. I figured there’s no better game to start off with than one of the titles on my "most anticipated’ list, Bioware’s Mass Effect. I’m not even going to spoil this one by posting some rambling comments – just sit back, watch and enjoy.

Mass Effect will be available exclusively for the Xbox 360 this November.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: CRYSIS

You thought we were out of first person shooters to show off, didn’t you? Well, I figured that since we’ve spent the last three days showing you the upcoming exclusive shooters for each of the console systems, we’d show the PC a little love too. As such, we’ve got some new footage of Crytek’s Crysis, and, as has been the case with the game from day one, it looks stunning.

I’m assuming that the video you’re about to watch takes place early stages of the game, as it appears that the player is still facing off against human enemies instead of an alien invasion. Perhaps the most interesting feature displayed in the video is that the player seems to be employing some kind of cloaking device during their infiltration of the enemy camp.

Crysis – the game so beautiful it will make your video card cry. Let’s check it out;

Crysis is scheduled to release for Windows PC’s on September 4th, 2007. Despite rumors to the contrary, there are no official plans for the game to appear on any of the latest consoles at this time.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: METROID PRIME 3: CORRUPTION

Continuing with our look at the trailers coming out of E3, we’ll round out the big three shooters with Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for the Nintendo Wii. Utilizing the Wii’s unique control scheme, the game should help highlight features that the Wiimote/Nunchuck combination can bring to the genre.

My biggest concern based on the trailer you’re about to watch, as well as demonstrations of the game I’ve seen, is that there may be a bit too many platforming elements for most die hard shooter fans. Then again, I’ll admit to not having played the last two Gamecube installments of the series, so for all I know, those elements could be hallmarks of the series. (I know, it’s shameful that I haven’t played Metroid Prime 1 & 2 – they’re on my list . Honest!)

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will release on August 27th, 2007 exclusively for the Wii.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: KILLZONE 2

This originally wasn’t the only post I had planned for the early part of the day, but once again it appears that my internet connection is down. I really don’t quite know what to make of the recent run of issues I’ve had with my connection other than to know that should I call my provider, they’ll blame my cable modem – just as they always do – and then claim ignorance when the problem suddenly clears up.

Anyway, before I go too far into an off-topic rant, today’s E3 video selection is Sony’s answer to Halo 3Killzone 2. You may remember that the first time Sony unveiled video of Killzone 2, there was a huge scandal because they initially claimed the stunning visuals seen were in-game footage, but later admitted that the entire trailer was just a “target video” done in CGI.

In this E3 2007 demonstation, we get to see what should be actual gameplay footage. While the game is certainly looking good, it doesn’t come close to that original “target” trailer we saw back at E3’05. One thing that disturbs me is the apparent lack of a self preservation instinct in the enemy AI. I’m hoping that this is just a case of setting the demo to it’s easiest level for the demonstration, but it’s something I’ll be keeping my eyes on as we get closer to release. Still, after how long it’s been since we’ve seen anything regarding Killzone 2, it’s nice to see that it’s generally coming along well.

Killzone 2 is scheduled to release exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in 2008.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: HALO 3

Over the next week, we’ll be highlighting some of the better trailers to come out of E3 this year, and what better way to start off then by showcasing Microsoft’s biggest title for 2007 – you guessed it, Halo 3.

The trailer you’re about to watch is the first one that gives us a bit of a glimpse into the campaign mode’s story and thankfully, unlike Halo 2, it looks like much of the game will take place on Earth. I’m hoping we finally get a chance to play through some large scale conflicts inside of a modern city for more than just a few minutes.

Halo 3 for the Xbox 360 is scheduled to hit retail on September 25th, 2007. While there’s been no word on a PC port as of yet, I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before one is announced.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: CALL OF DUTY 4: MODERN WARFARE

Activision has released the latest trailer for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and what we find in this new video is that what we may have viewed as a smaller, regional conflict based on the previous trailer is actually just a small part of a far larger global crisis. While specific details as to the game’s plot still haven’t been made available, I think you’ll agree that with this second trailer, things are really starting to heat up.

One thing to note is that according to Activision, everything seen in this trailer is from actual gameplay footage.

Those of you who want to watch the above video in high-definition, download it to your computer or check out other Call of Duty 4 videos should head on over to GameTrailers.com. Call of Duty 4 is currently scheduled to release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC in late 2007 or early 2008.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: ALL PRO FOOTBALL 2K8

Given the amount of coverage All Pro Football 2K8 has been getting on this site compared to other games, you’ve probably realized that I was a big fan of the 2K series of football games back in the days before Electronic Arts grabbed the exclusive NFL rights. For those of us who were devoted 2K players, it’s been rough going over the last few years. Even with player created custom rosters for ESPN NFL2K5’s franchise mode, the lack of any updated online rosters has been a killer. I’ll admit that I finally stopped playing the 2K series last year when the last of my friends left 2K behind and entered Madden country. It wasn’t a move I was happy making, but sometimes you just have to roll with the punches.

It’s because of the above that I’m really excited about 2K Sports getting back into football with All Pro Football 2K8. Sure, it’s not an NFL football game, but it’s almost like fantasy football – which can be just as rewarding, especially for those of us who don’t root for a NFL powerhouse team. More importantly, 2K seems to be taking a unique look at football games while making the most out of the lack of any kind of official license. From the completely customizable uniforms to the intricate stadiums to the way each “Legendary” player is given special skills based on their actual NFL exploits, All Pro Football is certainly pulling out the stops to try and convince gamers that they don’t need the NFL name to enjoy a game of football.

Now, if you remember the last time we took a look at APF2K8, you may recall that I voiced some concerns about the way some of the footage shown looked. Well, the second trailer for the game has been released, and other than one or two animations, the game is looking pretty solid graphically. Don’t take my word for it – check out the video below;

All Pro Football 2K8 is currently slated to release for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on July 16th, 2007.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: GRAND THEFT AUTO IV

Power was only restored here a little while ago, so I haven’t had the time to do my usual news-digging. What I did have the time to do was go over to GameTrailers.com and get my grubby mitts on the new trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV. This latest video gives us a little more of a glimpse into the story behind GTAIV’s action while taking a bit of a tour around Liberty City. Let’s take a look;

While that may not exactly be gameplay footage, it does look like it was rendered from inside the game itself – which would mean things are looking pretty good for GTAIV at this point. Grand Theft Auto IV will be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 16th, 2007.

Those of you who want to watch the above video in high-definition or download one of the GTAIV trailers should head on over to the Grand Theft Auto IV video page at GameTrailers.com.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: HEAVENLY SWORD – GAMER’S DAY ‘07

While it’s been an incredibly slow weekend on the gaming news front, I still haven’t had a chance to sit down and write out my thoughts on the whole Manhunt 2 situation. What that means to you, beyond the fact that you’ve been saved from hearing my rantings for now, is that you get a video to watch instead.

We’re revisiting Sony’s Heavenly Sword today and what we’ve got this time is… well, it’s more combat footage in areas that we’ve seen before. While there’s nothing wrong with the combat you’re about to watch, I’m still a little nervous regarding the general lack of information coming out of Sony on Heavenly Sword. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they’re just saving everything for a last minute media blitz so that people don’t lose the “wow” factor the game carries with it when you see it in action.

Those of you looking for more videos of Heavenly Sword, or who want to download the above video in standard or high definition, should head on over to the Heavenly Sword video page at GameTrailers.com. One word of warning here: If you don’t want any spoilers about the game’s plot, you may want to skip the “Gamers Day 07 Moves and Technologies Interview” GameTrailers has available.

Heavenly Sword is scheduled to release later this year exclusively for the PlayStation 3.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: CALL OF DUTY 4: MODERN WARFARE

Back when Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was first announced, I voiced some concerns that the game was going to get away from the feel of just being another soldier in favor of an experience more akin to Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. I’m pleased to announce that having just watched the first gameplay footage of CoD4, it looks like Infinity Ward has indeed kept the game firmly fixed to it’s roots while simultaneously bringing it into the 21st century. Don’t believe me? Check it out below courtesy of GameTrailers.com;

Those of you interested in downloading the trailer you just watched in standard or high-definition should head over to the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare video page at GameTrailers.com and pick your poison.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: MERCENARIES 2: WORLD IN FLAMES

I’ve never made a secret of the fact that Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction was one of my favorite games of the last console generation. It was just one of those titles that seemed to have everything – open ended gameplay, massive explosions, vehicle combat, more massive explosions, a load of fun whenever you played it and of course, some really freaking massive explosions. It was, in short, a masterpiece of directed mayhem.

It’s because of that love for Mercenaries that I’m thrilled to announced that GameTrailers.com has posted the debut trailer for Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, and you can watch it right here. You know, the more things change, the more they stay the same – while Pandemic Studios may have found a new publisher in the form of Electronic Arts, it looks like everything else has remained pretty much the same… in other words, things still blow up reeeeeeal nicely.

While some of the footage may look a little rough around the edges, it’s still early on and I’m sure the game will go through quite a bit more polishing before release. So far I like what I see – I like it a lot.

For more information on Mercenaries 2, be sure to check out the Mercenaries 2 official website. Those of you who want to download the trailer you just watched in standard or high-definition should head over to GameTrailers.com.

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is currently slated to release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and Windows PC some time in 2008.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: PROJECT GOTHAM RACING 4: THE SNOW IN… NURBURGRING?

Bizarre Creations has released the next sneak peak of their upcoming Xbox 360 racer Project Gotham Racing 4. Last time, they showed us what the rain in St. Petersburg would bring – this time around, they’re treating us to snowfall in Nurburgring. Looks like Bizarre plans on making the environment’s ability to change driving conditions a big part of the PGR experience. Check it out below courtesy of the fine folks over at GameTrailers.com.

Hopefully the release of PGR4 will also result in Geometry Wars 3 being brought to the masses. Project Gotham Racing 4 will be an Xbox 360 exclusive and is currently slated to release some time this holiday season.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: SOUL CALIBUR IV

Namco Bandai has announced that Soul Calibur IV, the latest installment of the Soul Edge/Blade/Calibur series is now in production and will be appearing on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. While details are sketchy at the moment, they did release a teaser trailer for the game… which you’re about to watch.

No further official information on Soul Calibur IV is available at this time.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: ALL PRO FOOTBALL 2K8

2K Sports has finally given us our first look at All Pro Football 2K8 in action, and I’ve got to say, from what I’ve seen in the video you’re about to watch, it appears to be a mixed bag as far as quality goes. There are moments when the trailer makes you think the game will have all the magic we’ve come to expect from the 2K Football series, and then there are times where you’d swear that NFL2K5 looked better.

The true determining factor will be how the game looks from the standard play screens rather than the apparent in-game replay scenes we’re treated to here. Regardless of what I may have seen that disappointed me in this video, I still have high hopes for All Pro Football 2K8 – as I’m sure 2K Sports does. One thing I do feel the need to note here is that I believe that 2K is only going to get one chance to get it right with APF2K8 – if the first game in the series is a letdown, I really can’t see people coming back for a second helping anytime soon.

All Pro Football 2K8 is scheduled to be released later this summer on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: PROJECT GOTHAM RACING 4: THE RAIN IN… ST. PETERSBURG?

If you’re wondering why I haven’t said much about the upcoming Halo 3 multiplayer beta or why I haven’t posted any of the dozens of videos floating around the net recently, it’s because I’m trying to avoid as much of the pre-beta hoopla as possible so that I step into the fun without any expectations of how the game is going to play or how each weapon will feel. Sorry about that, but I hope you understand where I’m coming from on that end.

To make up for it, what I do have is a video of the rain effects in Project Gotham Racing 4, and once you see it, you’ll probably be drooling over PGR4 just as much as I am at the moment. It’s funny – I used to hate the PGR series and love Forza, but having played the Forza 2 demo, I suddenly find that usual role reversed. I guess I’ve just grown too fond of PGR’s cockpit view. Anyway, enough rambling – on with the video!

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: MASS EFFECT

Bioware has made another video of their upcoming sci-fi epic Mass Effect available to the public. The video you’re about to watch seems to be from a cut-scene that I’m guessing serves as an introduction to the main plot line. Check it out below.

Mass Effect is rumored to be launching on June 5th and will appear exclusively on the Xbox 360.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: GRAND THEFT AUTO IV

Rockstar Games has seen fit to grace us all with the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV, and I’m thrilled to say that it looks like we’re heading back to Liberty City. I’ve got to admit that they’ve done a really nice job in capturing the look of midtown Manhattan this time around, so much so that I couldn’t stop laughing at the MetLife building becoming the "GetaLife" building. It’s juvenile humor for certain, but for some reason it cracks me up every time I watch it.

Grand Theft Auto IV is scheduled to release on October 16th, 2007 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: PENNY ARCADE ADVENTURES

If you’ve got a good memory, you probably remember that back in August of last year, the folks over at Penny Arcade and Hothead Games announced that they had entered into an agreement to create Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, a game based on the Penny Arcade characters. Things have been pretty silent on that front since then… until now.

The first trailer for the game has been made available, and the folks over at Joystiq were kind enough to put it up on YouTube. Before you watch it, I must remind you of one thing… this is a game based on Penny Arcade – in other words, it may not be safe for you to watch this one at work. (Mainly due to everyone’s favorite kitchen appliance) – check it out below;

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: SPORE AT GDC’07

Seeing how Spore is one of those games that everyone wants despite not really knowing how exactly the game will play, I’ve decided to post another short video on it from this year’s Game Developer’s Conference.

The video you’re about to watch seems to break down how each phase of your creation’s existence will play out from the cellular level to space exploration. There’s no dialog or explanation to go along with the video, so you’re going to be on your own as far as putting it into context. One thing I will say is that it definitely looks like some strategic elements are being added to the game, and I really do like the apparent feature of designing your own civilizations weapons as well. Check it out below;

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: HEAVENLY SWORD ON HEROES

The other day I was lamenting the fact that we hadn’t seen any news on Heavenly Sword in quite some time and I was starting to worry that as the game had entered development hell just like a few other prominent PlayStation 3 titles have recently. Well, it appears the game is at least still being used as a promotional tool by Sony, which I figure has to be a good sign.

On last night’s episode of Heroes, Nikki and Micah are seen playing Heavenly Sword during a moment of downtime, and Sony used the opportunity to show off a whole ten seconds of new footage. What we got to see was what appears to be more of the “God of War” style, single button press action system and naturally, it left us wanting more. The good folks over at Kotaku put the video up at YouTube, so here it is (spoiler free for those of us who are still playing catch-up with our Tivo’ed episodes of the show.)

If you remember, awhile back we announced that Sony had listed today’s date on the Heavenly Sword information page as the game’s release date. Obviously, the game isn’t coming out today and Sony replaced that information with a plain “2007” marker a month or so back. Hopefully we’ll get some new news about when we can expect to see this one at retail soon. While we’re waiting for that news, I’ve taken the liberty of listing a few other Heavenly Sword videos below to help us pass the time.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS – BIOSHOCK: HUNTING THE BIG DADDY

Today I’ve got a video of Irrational Games upcoming title BioShock for you. This video, titled "Hunting the Big Daddy", focuses on some of the unique combat aspects of the game while showcasing some truly stunning visuals. I’ve been on the fence for awhile now about BioShock, but this video has certainly improved my opinion of the title.

BioShock is being published by 2K Games and is currently slated to release exclusively on the Xbox 360 and Windows XP/Vista platforms on August 21st, 2007.

LAZY DAY TRAILERS: BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY

We’re starting tonight off with a bang… literally. I don’t know what it is with Electronic Arts, but of late they seem utterly fascinated with the idea of publishing games about mercenaries. I mean, first we had Army of Two, then they picked up the publishing rights to Mercenaries 2: World in Flames and now they announce Battlefield: Bad Company. You’d almost think they’re obsessed with people who will do anything for money. (I know, I’ve used the joke before, but it never gets old.)

The below trailer is supposedly composed from inside the game engine and is actually pretty funny to watch. Check it out!

Battlefield: Bad Company is currently slated for release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
