XBOX 360 CLEARANCE ITEMS AT WALMART

About an hour ago, I went out in search of a store that would have the Wood Swarm theme deck for The Eye of Judgment in stock, and happened to stop in my local Walmart on the long shot that they would have it. While I didn't find the theme deck, what I did find were a few accessories for the Xbox 360 on clearance.

While I can't say for certain that the same will be in effect at every Walmart, this store had the following items on clearance;

While many gamers won't care about the remote or memory card, the Wireless Gaming Receiver is a nifty little item that will allow you to use your wireless Xbox 360 accessories on your PC.

Bottom line? If you're in the vicinity of a Walmart anytime soon, you may want to stop in and check out the gaming section to see if there are any deals available.

XBOX LIVE ARCADE TWO DAY SALE COMING SEPT 2ND & 3RD

Major Nelson has announced that Microsoft has decided to have a little bit of a Labor Day sale on four of the older Xbox Live Arcade titles. Starting on Sunday, September 2nd and ending on Monday, September 3rd, Dig Dug, Gauntlet, Small Arms and Zuma Deluxe will all be offered for half price.

  • Dig Dug – 200 points ($2.50)
  • Gauntlet – 200 points ($2.50)
  • Small Arms – 400 points ($5.00)
  • Zuma Deluxe – 400 points ($5.00)

Hopefully sales for these four titles during the promotion will increase dramatically enough to convince Microsoft to offer price reductions on many of the other older Arcade titles – even if only on a temporary basis.

BIOSHOCK $10 OFF AT CIRCUIT CITY

I’m telling you, this is actually getting funny. Halfway through typing that last story, I glanced over at the Sunday paper and notices that this week’s Circuit City flyer has both versions of BioShock listed as on sale starting Tuesday. The sale knocks ten dollars off the price of each, so you can grab the Xbox 360 version of the game for $49.99 and the PC version for $39.99. The sale price is apparently also available online (though who would want to wait for the game to arrive in the mail?)

If you haven’t pre-ordered already, this could certainly be the way to go. I wouldn’t expect quantities to last long at this price, so if you plan on taking advantage of the sale, be sure to order online or get there as soon as possible on Tuesday.

WALMART PUTTING THE XBOX 360 HD-DVD PLAYER ON CLEARANCE?

That’s the rumor over at CheapAssGamer (by way of Kotaku) – It appears that several CAG forum members have noticed the Xbox 360’s HD-DVD player on sale at Walmart for the much reduced price of $130.00. While the price isn’t listed on the company’s website, those of you feeling the need to pick up the peripheral may want to check your local Wallyworld over the next few days to see what pricetag they actually have on the drive.

It should also be noted that ever since the launch of the PlayStation 3, Blu-Ray has been starting to pull away from HD-DVD in the high-def movie format war, so this may be a pretty good indication that we’re going to have an early winner. In other words, don’t blame me if you buy the damn thing tomorrow and the HD-DVD format goes in the crapper later in the year. While I wouldn’t say the war over just yet, if the stories on the CAG forums about Walmart saying they’re clearing out their inventory are true, it certainly is a major blow to the format.

RISE OF LEGENDS $34.99 AT CIRCUIT CITY

Intrepid reader drkphreakx let us know that this weeks sale circular from Circuit City has Rise of Legends listed as on sale for $34.99. Check the Circuit City website for your local circular, and it if it’s on sale, head on down and pick it up – I plan to. The sale is scheduled to last until the 20th, and there seems to be some type of bug with the online ordering at Circuit City’s website, which results in the game not appearing with the sale price in your basket. Hopefully they’ll get that fixed soon. Click here to head on over to Circuit City’s site. Big thanks to drkphreakx.
