According to Major Nelson, Capcom will be making the first two map packs (Map Pack 1 and Map Pack 2) for the Xbox 360 version of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition free downloads starting today. This is apparently being done in the spirit of fairness as the four maps are being released (for free) on the PC version today as well. Free is always good, so if you’ve got the game and haven’t bought the map packs yet, now is the time to do it.
Please note that the Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Map Pack 3 will not be included as a free download.

Capcom has announced that they will be showing off the multiplayer mode of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition at the Leipzig Game Convention from August 24th through the 27th;
“Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that the Leipzig Games Convention will mark the global debut of the multiplayer mode for Lost Planetâ„¢, the highly anticipated sci-fi action shooter exclusive for the Xbox 360â„¢ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Showcasing in Capcom’s dedicated Lost Planet booth on August 24-27, visitors will be able to participate in extreme four vs. four team battles as they struggle not only against the opposing force, but the harsh conditions of the game’s ice-bound world. Leipzig Games Convention will highlight just one of the numerous multiplayer maps and modes that will compliment Lost Planet’s gripping single player campaign when it is released in Q1 2007. “ -Capcom Press Release
I’ve got to say that Lost Planet is a perfect example of how powerful the Xbox Live Marketplace can be for a developer. This game was barely on my radar at all before this year’s E3 and most people hadn’t even heard of the title. That all changed when Capcom put a single player demo of the game up on Live. Simply put, the game is a blast to play and for many people, it’s gone from being a title they would have ignored to a must-have game.
