THIS WEEK’S RELEASES: NOVEMBER 5TH – NOVEMBER 11TH

When looking over this week's list, there was absolutely no question in my mind as to which title was going to take the coveted "pick of the week" spot – Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has been on my mind ever since the multiplayer beta ended a little over a month ago, and at long last it's making it's way to retail.

What can I say about Call of Duty 4 that hasn't been said already? The series finally jumps from the battlefields of World War II and lands smack in the middle of the modern era. Developer Infinity Ward appears to have once again crafted what is sure to be one of the most exciting titles of the year – and between the fast-paced taste of the campaign provided in the PC demo and the rich multi-player experience the Xbox 360 beta allowed many to experience, there really doesn't seem to be anywhere where the game fails to deliver.

I've heard some rumors stating that the single player campaign will clock in a little short at around 6 hours, but I can't confirm that at this time – what I can confirm is that I'll certainly be racing to my local shop to grab this one the moment it's available and playing it with friends for months to come.

That said, let's get on with this week's retail highlights;

• Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (360, DS, PC & PS3)
  • As mentioned above, Activision's premiere first person shooter enters the modern era.
• Empire Earth III (PC)
• Sierra's epic real time strategy series comes back for a third time – build an empire that spans the ages.
• F.E.A.R. Files (360)
  • It's both the Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate expansions available on one disc for XBox 360 owners.
• F.E.A.R.: Perseus Mandate (PC)
  • The second stand-alone expansion for Sierra's spooky shooter makes it's way to the PC.
• Gears of War (PC)
  • Gears finally appears on the PC! Those of you who haven't yet had a chance to try the game on the Xbox 360 (and who own a computer than can handle the game) owe it to yourselves to play this one. As an added bonus, the PC port includes 5 chapters not present in the 360 version.
• Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance (PC)
  • Gas Powered Games' futuristic real time strategy title gets it's first expansion. A new faction, new units and new strategies should keep fans of the original on their toes.
